Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession that aims to reduce pain and maximise function which might have been affected due to an injury, as a result of surgery or illness, or because of general deconditioning. The goal is to find the root cause of pain and dysfunction to alleviate symptoms long term.
Our Physiotherapist will start by discussing your symptoms, lifestyle and hobbies. These are important as it will help guide not only the diagnosis but also goals of treatment too.
Following this, you will be examined, allowing the Physiotherapist to make an accurate diagnosis and form a treatment plan. This might include joint mobilisations, soft tissue massage, taping, or a home exercise programme.
Our highly experienced Physiotherapist, Harriet, is registered with the HCPC ( PH65747) and is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists. She is able to assess, diagnose and treat all adults (18+).

Spinal pain can affect any area of the spine from the neck down to the lower back and includes the sacrum and coccyx. Pain can arise from the joints, discs, ligaments or nerves, and may be felt either locally or down into the arms or legs. This is known as radicular pain. After performing a thorough examination, the Physiotherapist will decide and fully explain the most appropriate treatment approach for you. This may include manual therapy such as joint mobilisations, soft tissue massage and mobilisation, and an individualised home exercise programme.
This includes the joints and soft tissues surrounding the spine, for example the shoulders, elbows, wrists, pelvis, hips, knees, ankles and feet. These structures may cause pain following injury, surgery or general de-conditioning due to suboptimal movement patterns. Physiotherapy aims to address these underlying issues and restore function by using various treatment methods including joint mobilisations, soft tissue release and graded home exercises.
This is aimed at improving range of movement, strength and function following a range of procedures, which are more likely to be relevant following orthopaedic surgery. These might include: total knee or hip replacements, shoulder surgery, rotator cuff repair /replacement, or spinal decompression surgery.
Following a thorough assessment and diagnosis, our Physiotherapist will apply evidence-based techniques, which may include joint mobilisations, soft tissue therapy, kinesiology taping, and a graded exercise program. The goal is to rehabilitate the injured joint while promoting overall well-being and reducing the risk of future injury.
Western Medical Acupuncture (useful for pain relief as an adjunct to other treatment modalities)
I graduated from Southampton University in 2003 with a degree in Physiotherapy. Since then, I have worked both privately and for the NHS, including team lead for the Pelvic Health Department for East Sussex Healthcare Trust. I currently work as an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist for East Sussex MSK Community Partnership.
“My interests lie in both Musculoskeletal and Pelvic Health Physiotherapy. Since graduating, I have completed the AACP Foundation Course in Acupuncture, along with all of my POGP postgraduate courses in Pelvic Health. I am committed to maintaining and expanding my clinical knowledge through continued professional development.
I am driven in my role as a Physiotherapist to provide an autonomous approach to treatment. With this in mind, I am always careful to treat everyone as an individual and listen carefully to my client’s needs. My treatments are goal led with a focus on reducing pain and maximizing function long term by finding the root cause of the problem.
